Character
The Stanley No.3 is a small Bailey-pattern smoothing plane. At 240 mm it is a compact tool suited to smoothing smaller surfaces and precise work.
Smaller than the No.4 but larger than the No.2, its proportions make it well suited for smaller workpieces or single-hand use.
Construction
Cast iron Bailey-pattern body. Standard Bailey adjustment system, frog, cap iron and wooden elements consistent with the rest of the bench plane family.
Use
Smoothing plane for smaller tasks and finer cuts. Favoured for confined work or finishing passes on smaller pieces.
