A flexible steel sole. One plane for both concave and convex curved work.
Construction
The sole is a thin spring-steel strip, adjustable in curvature by a central screw. The body is cast iron. Setting the curve is slow — the plane is not a quick-adjust tool. The iron is bedded at the standard Stanley angle.
Use
Curved surfaces: chair seats, curved drawer fronts, barrel staves. Concave with one screw setting, convex with the opposite direction. Not for tight radii — the sole has limits to how much it bends.
